“2nd Ambassador Cup China-Bangladesh Wushu Demonstration” attracts hundreds of athletes

DHAKA, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — “2nd Ambassador Cup China-Bangladesh Wushu Demonstration” was held in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka Saturday with more than 300 athletes competing in different types of the martial arts.

Bangladesh Wushu Association and local Ananta Tex Group jointly organized the event under the sponsorship of Chinese embassy in Dhaka.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zhang Zuo as the chief guest witnessed the Martial Arts demonstration.

In his remarks, Zuo reiterated China’s commitment to continue support for the development of Wushu in Bangladesh.

Four participating teams — Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP), the national sports institute of Bangladesh, Dhaka team and Rajshahi team — were presented the champion trophies after the end of the demonstration which is 2nd of its kind in Bangladesh where Wushu is now considered one of the popular sports.

Wushu was introduced to Bangladesh in 1990 and officially recognized by the government in September 2007 with the support of International Wushu Federation.  Enditem
