a2i honored with Bangladesh’s prestigious “Public Administration Award 2016”

13844216_10153808426354537_646760979_oDHAKA, July 24 (NsNewsWire) — “Access to Information (a2i)” program, an UNDP and USAID supported project having its office at the Bangladeshi Prime Minister’s Office, has been honored with the prestigious ‘Public Administration Award 2016’ for its innovative initiatives in leveraging ICTs in public service delivery.

On behalf of a2i,  its Director General  Kabir Bin Anwar received the award from  Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on July 23 at a ceremony in capital Dhaka’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

The country’s Ministry of Public Administration  has launched the first-ever award to recognize individuals and institutions for innovative initiatives and excellence at personal and institutional level.

The awards have been given in 6 different categories. a2i has been awarded for its great achievement in institutional technical categories.

This is worth mentioning that, Bangladesh won the world’s most prestigious award for excellence in information technology – the “World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)” award in three consecutive years for the innovative initiatives of a2i Programme under the Prime Minister’s Office.

Deputy Country Director of UNDP Bangladesh Nick Beresford, a2i Programme’s Policy Advisor Anir Chowdhury, People’s perspective specialist  Naimuzzaman Mukta, Capacity Development Specialist Manik Mahmud, Innovation Director Mustafizur Rahman and E-service Director Mohammad Abdul Mannan, among others, were present at the award giving ceremony.
