Bangladesh border force seizes nearly 2 mln yaba tablets

HAKA, March 18 (Xinhua) — Bangladesh’s border security force on Friday seized nearly 2 mln yaba tablets in the country’s Cox’s Bazar district, reports Xinhua
One person was arrested with suspected links to the seizure of 1.82 million yaba pills, Lieutenant Colonel Asaduzzaman, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion-2 in Teknaf under the Cox’s Bazar district, told media.
Acting on a tip-off, he said a patrol team of BGB personnel during an overnight raid along the Naf River that divides Bangladesh and Myanmar seized the yaba tablets, often used for sexual stimulation.
According to the official, this is the biggest ever seizure of contraband yaba tablets by the BGB.
Yaba tablets have been increasingly popular among drug users, despite efforts of law enforcement agencies to contain the dangers of the narcotics trade.
On Jan. 17, 2016, Bangladesh’s elite force Rsaid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 2.8 million yaba tablets, the biggest ever seizure of contraband yaba tablets in the country so far in a day.   Enditem
