PM invited to join China-South Asia Expo

DHAKA, March 30 (NsNewsWire) — Visiting Yunnan Province Governor Li Jiheng has invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to join the China-South Asia Expo to be held in Kunming in the first week of June this year.
Yunnan Governor Jiheng , who is currently on a three-day official visit to Bangladesh, handed over an official invitation letter to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday morning when holding a meeting in her office, her spokeswoman, Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, told journalists.
Sheikh Hasina accepted the invitation and said she will try her best to be present at the exposition.
She, meanwhile, expressed the hope that the exposition would create a golden opportunity for the South Asian countries including Bangladesh.
Hasina, however, said all the member countries would benefit if the initiative for BCIM (Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar) is implemented.
She also stressed the need for direct communication between Bangladesh’s southeastern seaport city Chittagong and Kunming.
The Yunnan Province Governor thanked the Bangladeshi PM for accepting the invitation saying Bangladesh-China relationship is tested in time and the Yunnan Province is the next door neighbor to Bangladesh.
Governor Li Jiheng, who felicitated Hasina for winning the Jan. 5 elections during the meeting, arrived in Dhaka on Saturday to discuss possible areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
Jiheng is leading a six-member delegation that includes high officials of the government of Yunnan Province, said a Bangladeshi foreign ministry press release.
He is expected to leave Dhaka on Monday evening. Enditem
