Bangladesh’s July-August exports post growth

DHAKA, Sept. 12 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh’s export income in the first two months of the current 2018-19 fiscal year (July 2018 to June 2019) grew 2.51 percent to 6.80 billion U.S. dollars, an official said Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
Quoting the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data, the official, who preferred to be unnamed, said export performance for August was 3.23 billion U.S. dollars, 11.74 percent lower than that in the same month a year ago.
According to the official, Bangladesh’s overall export growth dipped to single digit as demand for made in Bangladesh garment items plunged.
Readymade garment exports from Bangladesh grew at a moderate rate of 3.82 percent to 5.74 billion U.S. dollars in the first two months of the current 2018-19 fiscal year, the EPB data showed.
Bangladesh set its export target in 2018-19 fiscal year at 39 billion U.S. dollars including 32.69 billion U.S. dollars from readymade garment products.  Enditem
