FIFA president visits Dhaka

FIFA President Gianni Infantino arrived in Dhaka Thursday on a one-day goodwill visit at the invitation of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), reports Xinhua.
The 49-year-old supremo of world football’s governing body came here from Mongolia along with his entourage as part of his Asia tour.
Upon his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the FIFA president told reporters that there are many areas to work in Bangladesh.
“For me a great great pleasure to be here in Bangladesh today,” he said and expressed the hope that they would go a long way together for further development of Bangladesh football.
Since this is a goodwill visit, BFF President Kazi Salahuddin said they will try to highlight the country’s footballing status.
Prior to visiting BFF headquarters and meeting officials, the FIFA boss paid a courtesy call on Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Infantino is scheduled to fly for several Asian counties including China after concluding the short trip in Dhaka.
This is the first visit to Bangladesh by the current FIFA president, who took office in February 2016.
Joao Havelange was the first FIFA president to visit Bangladesh in 1980 while Sepp Blatter came here twice, in 2006 and 2012.  Enditem
