Pakistan High Commission protests Prothom Alo news item titled “Pakistan’s Malpractice in Dhaka”

The High Commission for Pakistan in Dhaka in a rejoinder Sunday protested a news item titled “Pakistan’s Malpractice in Dhaka” published in the Sept. 18 issue of the Prothom Alo.

The following is the full and unedited text of the rejoinder: “We reject the unfounded allegations and a tendentious review in the report regarding Pakistan’s diplomatic activities in Bangladesh.

These allegations, unfortunately, fit the pattern of disinformation campaign against Pakistan recently uncovered in some countries.

Pakistan strongly believes in the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other States. Its mutually beneficial relations with other countries, including in South Asia, are based on this principle.

Pakistan’s positive role in promotion of regional peace and stability, including that in the Afghan peace process, facilitation of the multinational evacuation from Afghanistan, and continued support for an inclusive political settlement has been duly acknowledged by the international community.

The online report has been published at a time when the relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh are heading in a positive direction. Such groundless reports may be used by certain hostile quarters to create misunderstandings between the two otherwise fraternal peoples.

We hope that consistent with its policies, Daily Prothom Alo will maintain its past high standards of journalism while reporting about Pakistan.”
