State-run BTV becomes first Bangladeshi channel to land in India

DHAKA, Sept. 3 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh’s state-run BTV has become the country’s first channel airing programs in its next-door neighbor India.

Bangladeshi Information Minister Hasan Mahmud inaugurated airing the programs of the state-run television channel at a program at its headquarters in capital Dhaka, reports Xinhua.

Earlier this year, agreements were signed for the purpose of broadcasting BTV in India.

Although many Indian channels are broadcast in Bangladesh, no Bangladeshi private channels are aired in Indian until now.

Bangladeshi cable operators have long been demanding to air the country’s private channels in India.
