Thai King appoints new member to his privy council

BANGKOK, June 8 (Xinhua) — Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn appointed Admiral Pongthep Nhuthep as a member of the Privy Council, Thailand’s Royal Gazette said on Thursday.

The appointment is effective immediately, the Royal Gazette added.

Pongthep thus became the 14th member of the powerful advisory council.

He was the former deputy permanent secretary for defense before he retired.
