U.S.-BANGLADESH DEFENSE DIALOGUE

DHAKA, Nov. 4 (U.S. Embassy Press Release) — The United States and Bangladesh will hold the Second Bilateral Defense Dialogue and Military Planning Talks from November 5 – 7, 2013 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The event will take place in Dhaka at the invitation of the Government of Bangladesh.

The positive and substantial exchanges of the dialogue reflect the breadth, depth, and strength of the growing bilateral defense relationship, as well as our shared commitment to peace and prosperity in the region. The purpose of the U.S. – Bangladesh Defense Dialogue is to broaden and strengthen bilateral cooperation on a wide range of military issues, and enhance partnerships in peacekeeping, joint military exercises and exchanges, counterterrorism, and security cooperation.

The Bilateral Defense Dialogue and Military Planning Talks will be led on the U.S. side by U.S. Pacific Command with representatives from U.S. Army Pacific; U.S. Pacific Fleet; U.S. Pacific Air Forces; U.S. Marine Corp Forces, Pacific; Special Operations Command Pacific, Oregon National Guard State Partnership Program, Center for Excellence Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance, Defense Security Cooperation Agency, and Joint Inter-Agency Task Force-West. The Bangladesh side will be led by the Armed Forces Division and will include representatives from Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Disaster Management, Army, Navy, Air Force, Bangladesh Coast Guard, and Border Guard Bangladesh.
