International Fusion Research Center Inaugurated in Chengdu Through IAEA-China Partnership
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Collaborating Center for Fusion Energy Research and Training was officially inaugurated in Chengdu, capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
Jointly established by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA), the centre operates with the support of the Southwestern Institute of Physics.
According to officials, the centre aims to accelerate major technological breakthroughs and original innovations in fusion energy research through international cooperation, academic exchange, scientific and technological innovation, and the integration of industrial sectors. Fusion energy is a vital approach to using nuclear power peacefully, with key benefits over traditional fission energy such as greater energy output, plentiful raw materials, less radioactive waste, and enhanced safety. It is regarded as one of the key pathways for future clean energy development.
China has long been committed to the innovative development and peaceful use of fusion energy.
আন্তর্জাতিক পারমাণবিক শক্তি সংস্থা (আইএইএ)এর সহযোগী ফিউশন শক্তি গবেষণা ও প্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্রের আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন হয়েছে চীনের দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলীয় সিছুয়ান প্রদেশের রাজধানী ছেংতুতে। সম্প্রতি এই কেন্দ্রটি যৌথভাবে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছে আন্তর্জাতিক পারমাণবিক শক্তি সংস্থা (আইএইএ) এবং চায়না অ্যাটমিক এনার্জি অথরিটি (সিএইএ) যার কার্যক্রমে সহযোগিতা করছে সাউথওয়েস্টার্ন ইনস্টিটিউট অব ফিজিক্স।
কর্তৃপক্ষের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, কেন্দ্রটির লক্ষ্য হলো আন্তর্জাতিক সহযোগিতা, একাডেমিক বিনিময়, বৈজ্ঞানিক ও প্রযুক্তিগত উদ্ভাবন এবং শিল্পখাতের সমন্বয়ের মাধ্যমে ফিউশন শক্তি গবেষণায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রযুক্তিগত অগ্রগতি ও মৌলিক উদ্ভাবনকে ত্বরান্বিত করা। ফিউশন শক্তি হলো পারমাণবিক শক্তির শান্তিপূর্ণ ব্যবহারের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দিক, যা প্রচলিত বিভাজন শক্তির তুলনায় অধিক শক্তি উৎপাদন, পর্যাপ্ত কাঁচামাল, কম তেজস্ক্রিয় বর্জ্য এবং উন্নত নিরাপত্তা—এসব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সুবিধা প্রদান করে।। এটি ভবিষ্যতের পরিচ্ছন্ন শক্তি উন্নয়নের মূল দিক হিসেবে বিবেচিত।
