BBS set to make public 2011 census data
DHAKA, Dec. 13 (NsNewsWire) — One of the most important developments in transparency and access to data is currently taking place.
On the 14th of December at 2:30 pm the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) will officially launch online access to 2011 census data. With support from UNFPA and the EU delegation to Bangladesh BBS has uploaded all of the 2011 census data, free to access for everyone.
Additionally BBS is launching all 135 national, district and community series reports, 14 thematic population monographs and the 2011-2061 population projection estimates.
The launch is taking place at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel followed by a “Meet the Press”. The Honorable Planning Minister Mr. A. H. M. Mustafa Kamal FCA will be Chief Guest and Prof. Dr. Shamsul Alam, Member (Senior Secretary), General Economic Division, Planning Commission will attend as Special Guest. The Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union in Bangladesh, H. E. Mr. Pierre Mayaudon, and the UNFPA Representative, Ms. Argentina Matavel Piccin will be the guests of honour. The programme will be chaired by the Secretary of Statistics and Informatics Division, Ministry of Planning.
