High Commissioner Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla visits Rajshahi and Natore on 29-30 January 2017

DHAKA, Jan. 28 (NsNewsWire) —  Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh will be visiting Rajshahi and Natore on 29-30 January 2017.

On January 29, the High Commissioner will first visit the Nagar Bhaban, Rajshahi where a Memorandum of Understanding between Indian and Bangladesh is scheduled to be signed for the ‘Sustainable Development of Rajshahi City’. A number of small projects will be undertaken under the aegis on this MoU, with financial aid of Taka 21.95 crore. The event will be followed by a Civic Reception for the High Commissioner by the Rajshahi City Corporation where the High Commissioner will customarily be handed over a key to the City of Rajshahi. On the same day, the High Commissioner is scheduled to meet the Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University to discuss academic exchanges. In the evening, the High Commissioner will address and interact with members of the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce.

On January 30, the High Commissioner will visit the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah, where a project of construction of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Building and the setting up of an IT Centre is being undertaken by India. The project was jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prom Minister Sheikh Hasina during the visit of the Prime Minister of India to Bangladesh in June 2015. Government of India is providing financial assistance of Taka 10.85 crore for this project.

Thereafter, the High Commissioner will visit the Jai Kalibari Temple, Natore where a project for re-construction and renovation is currently being undertaken with the financial assistance of the Government of India to the tune of Taka 97 lacs. The High Commissioner will also visit the Assistant High Commission of India in Rajshahi.
