Bangladesh athletes demonstrate traditional Chinese martial Wushu arts skills

DHAKA, Nov. 21 (NsNewsWire) — Some 130 athletes Monday demonstrated traditional Chinese martial Wushu arts skills in Bangladesh capital Dhaka, reports Xinhua.
Bangladesh Wushu Association and Shanto-Mariam CRI Confucius Classroom jointly organized the “Ambassador Cup China-Bangladesh Wushu Demonstration-2017″ under the sponsorship of Chinese embassy in Dhaka.
Bangladeshi State Minister for Sports Biren Sikdar as the chief guest witnessed the Martial Arts demonstration while Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang as the special guest attended the event with Abdus Sobhan Golap, special assistant to Bangladeshi prime minister, in the chair.
In his opening remarks, Ma Mingqiang said China will continue its support for the development of Wushu in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, he announced a donation of 500,000 rmb for Wushu development in Bangladesh and assured of sending more Chinese Wushu teachers to offer training here.
Mohammad Dulal Hossain, joint secretary of Bangladesh Wushu Association, told Xinhua that 130 athletes from Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), the national sports institute of Bangladesh, Shanto Mariam-CRI Confucius Classroom and Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, a paramilitary auxiliary force responsible for the preservation of internal security and law enforcement, joined the demonstration.
“We’ve organized the demonstration event virtually to to hunt for promising Wushu players,” Hossain said.
He said selected Wushu players will be sent for further training in home and abroad so that Bangladesh can better compete in future international Wushu competitions.
He said there are many players skilled in Wushu Sanda performance.
“But we don’t have enough players skilled in Taolu performance. Through this program we wish to get some such players who have talent in Taolu performance”
All the four participating teams were presented the trophies after the end of the demonstration which is first of its kind in Bangladesh where Wushu is one of the popular sports.
“Today’s demonstration is also aimed at promoting Wushu as a sports in Bangladesh,” Hossain said.  Enditem
