45 th Victory Day of Bangladesh celebrated in Copenhagen

Dhaka, Dec 18 (NsNewsWire) –Bangladesh Embassy in Copenhagen has celebrated the 45 th anniversary of the

Victory Day of Bangladesh with due solemnity and great fervour.

The two-day programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag in the morning of 16th

December by the Ambassador of Bangladesh  Muhammad A. Muhith, according to a press release received here on Saturday.

A colorful celebration programme was organized  by the Embassy at the Chancery

auditorium where a good number of Non-resident Bangladesh citizens including

political figures, artistes, professionals working with various Danish government and

non-government organizations and UN bodies along with their family members were

present.

During the programme, messages from  President,

Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and  State Minister for Foreign

Affairs released on the Victory Day were read out. A documentary on the contribution

of foreign friends during Bangladesh liberation was screened. Members of the

Bangladesh Community in Copenhagen took part in the discussion segment where

they focused on different aspects of Victory Day.

In his speech, the Ambassador described the Victory Day as the most glorious

day in the history of Bangalee people. He paid deep respect and homage to the

memories of the Father of the National Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,

freedom fighters, martyrs and the women who lost their dignities during the liberation

war. The Ambassador viewed that the Victory Day, earned through sacrifices made by the millions

under the supreme leadership of Bangbandhu, is a source of inspiration for the nation

that is currently transforming itself into a knowledge based digital middle income

country by realizing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Vision 2021.

He highlighted the remarkable progress that Bangladesh has been making during the tenure of the present

government which has turned Bangladesh into a role model for development in the

global theatre. He expressed his deep optimism that Bangladesh would reach the

bench mark of middle income country by 2021 coinciding the platinum Jubilee of the

birth of the Father of the Nation who dreamt of a 'Sonar Bangla' for the nation.

 

Finally, he called upon the expatriate Bangladesh community to join their hands and

work collectively for the progress, prosperity and welfare of Bangladesh under the

leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The programme was rounded off with the

array of Bangladeshi food hosted by the Embassy, the release added.
