Again Three-Day Blockade From Saturday Morning

DHAKA, Dec. 5 (nsnewswire) — Bangladesh’s main opposition alliance has called another round of nationwide non-stop 72-hour blockade from Saturday morning.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Joint General Secretary Salahuddin Ahmed through a video message sent from unknown location made the announcement of rail, roads and waterway blockade Thursday.
The announcement of the fresh blockade came hours before the end of the ongoing 131-hour non-stop blockade, which is to expire 5:00 p.m. Thursday.
BNP and its 17 allies have been pushing for the postponement of the scheduled election slated for Jan. 5.
Dozens of people, including nine on Wednesday, have been reportedly dead and hundreds others injured during roads, rail and waterways blockade which triggered wide spread violence since Nov. 26 in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
Incidents of clash, arson, vandalism, chase and counter-chase, bomb explosions and detention were reported from many places in the country on Thursday.
A rickshaw-puller, who suffered bullet injuries three days ago during a clash between the ruling and opposition men , died at a hospital Thursday.
Thursday’s stray incidents of violence, however left dozens of people including cops reportedly injured in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
At least two transport workers sustained burns , one of them critically as miscreants torched their vehicles during Thursday’s blockade hours.
