Bangladesh Foreign Secretary meets his Indian counterpart in New Delhi

DHAKA, Feb. 2 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Md. Shahidul Haque, who is on a two-day bilateral visit to New Delhi at the invitation of India’s Foreign Secretary Dr. S. Jaishankar, met his counterpart at the Indian capital yesterday (1 February) .

The bilateral talks were held at the Hyderabad House last evening where the two Foreign Secretaries discussed the whole range of bilateral issues including security and peace; water resources management; power and energy sector cooperation; trade, business & investment; development cooperation; sub-regional cooperation; connectivity; regional and multilateral cooperation, and people-to-people contact.

Taking stock of the Joint Declaration issued by the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh and India in June last year, the two sides expressed satisfaction at the progress of its implementation so far.

Bangladesh Foreign Secretary also briefed Indian Foreign Secretary on Bangladesh’s chairmanship of the 9th Global Forum on Migration and Development to be held in Dhaka in December 2016. Foreign Secretary would meet India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval and Special Secretary of Water Resources Ministry, Dr. Amarjit Singh today.
