Bangladesh launches 2-year-long national awareness campaign to save tigers

DHAKA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) — Bangladesh will launch a two-year-long national awareness campaign from Feb. 11 to save tigers, officials said on Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
They said Bengal Tiger Conservation Activity (Bagh), a joint project of the Bangladesh government and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will launch the campaign.
Bengal Tiger Conservation Activity (Bagh) Wednesday held a press briefing with journalists ahead of the campaign.
Md Nasir Uddin of Bagh told media that the campaign is expected to educate people about this rare species of feline and help prevent their extinction.
Speaking at the press conference, Bangladesh’s Chief Forest Conservator Yusuf Ali said the country has currently only some 106 tigers.
As part of the campaign, a Tiger Caravan will visit 100 strategic points. Concerts, mobile apps and social media engagement will also be arranged as part of the campaign.  Enditem
