Bangladesh observes May Day

• DHAKA, May 1 (NsNewsWire) —  May Day was  observed in Bangladesh ocapital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.

Different  workers’ bodies have organised various programmes, including processions, rallies and human chain demonstrations on Friday to commemorate the sacrifices made to win their rights. 

Ten workers were killed in police firing near Hay Market in the US city of Chicago on May 1, 1886.

Those   workers were campaigning for an eight-hour work shift instead of the prevalent 12 hours.  

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued seperate messages on the occasion of the dày.
