Bangladesh’s forex reserves reach 22.04 bln USD in January

DHAKA, Feb.  2 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves reached 22.04 billion U.S. dollars at the end of January, the country’s central bank said Sunday.
A Bangladesh Bank spokesman who declined to be named said that foreign exchange reserves stood at 22,042.30 million U.S. dollars in February after reaching 22,309.80 million U.S. dollars in January, reports Xinhua.
Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserve hit an all-time high of 22.37 billion U.S. dollars in December last year.
Earlier foreign exchange reserves hit an all-time high of 22 billion U.S. dollars in the middle of August last year. The central bank reserve had earlier hit 21 billion U.S. dollars in the middle of June, 2014.
Bangladesh, with a population of about 153 million, needs a reserve of about 10 billion U.S. dollars to meet its import bills for three months in light of an internationally accepted standard. Enditem
