Bangladesh’s opposition leader Khaleda to be arrested: PM

DHAKA, March 12 (Xinhua) — Bangladeshi ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will be arrested after court order reaches police station, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in the parliament on Wednesday night.
“Law enforcers will go for arresting khaleda zia and searching her house soon after getting court orders,” she informed the parliament. She also expressed the hope that khaleda will be arrested soon.
The prime minister said the law will take its course, adding none is above the law in the country.
A court in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka at the end of last month issued an arrest warrant against opposition leader Khaleda in a graft case filed by the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission.
Hasina said Khaleda is behaving like a militant leader, and her allies are creating countrywide anarchy in the name of politics.
“None will be spared. All who are responsible for violence will be brought to book,” Hasina said.
Dozens of people were killed in fresh waves of violence since Jan. 5 as Khaleda’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and 19 allies enforced countrywide nonstop blockade. On top of the blockade BNP and its allies have been enforcing strike at regular intervals since January demanding fresh election under non-party government.
BNP has already denied its involvement in the violence.  Enditem
