Bilateral talks held between Bangladesh President and Vietnam President in Hanoi, Vietnam

 

DHAKA, Aug. 11 (NsNewsWire) — The President of Bangladesh, Md. Abdul Hamid, is on a 4-day state visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of the President of Vietnam, Truong Tan Sang. Today, the official talks between the two Presidents was held at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam, in a very friendly and cordial atmosphere.

The Official Talks covered the entire range of bilateral and international issues of common interest. The Bangladesh delegation to the bilateral talks included Md. Shahriar Alam, MP, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Md. Shahab Ullah, Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam, Major Gen.

Abul Hosain, ndc, psc, Military Secretary to the President, Bhuiyan Islam, Secretary to the President, Shampad Barua, PS to the President, Mizanur Rahman, Additional Foreign Secretary, Joynal Abedin, Press Secretary to the President, Ashud Ahmed, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka and Dr. Ziaul Abedin, Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.

Both the Presidents expressed their satisfaction at the overall progress of the bilateral relations and reviewed issues related to existing cooperation in various fields. They emphasized on exploring new potential areas of bilateral cooperation to further bolster relations between the two countries.
The two leaders noted with satisfaction the positive progress of the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Bangladesh and Viet Nam over the past 40 years. The Bangladesh President mentioned that like the great leader of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was deeply committed to build a prosperous nation.
Acknowledging the importance of enhancing the scope of bilateral cooperation, the Bangladesh President underscored the need for frequent exchange of high level visits to ensure closer cooperation. Both the leaders also agreed on the importance of establishing regular Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between the two countries at the earliest.
Both sides agreed to cooperate in the field of security and defense through exchange of delegations, experience sharing in peacekeeping operations, combating transnational crimes and irregular migration.
 
Both the leaders pointed out that there was ample room for further expansion of bilateral trade and investment and agreed to explore further trade potentials. Both sides noted that there remained great potential for cooperation and agreed to create the most favorable business environment for enterprises from both countries in order to expand investment and business in each country.
The two Leaders agreed to foster cooperation, sharing of experience and expertise in agriculture and aquaculture sustainable development; fully and effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on Aquaculture and Farming Cooperation and the Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation concluded during the visit to Vietnam by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2012.
The two sides appreciated the close cooperation and coordination between the two countries at regional and international forums. Vietnam assured of its support in obtaining ASEAN Dialogue Partnership for Bangladesh.
The two sides underscored the importance of joint development of their respective tourism sectors. In this context, the Bangladesh side requested Vietnam side to simplify its visa regime for Bangladesh business entrepreneurs, investors and tourists to further increase people to people contact.
President Md. Abdul Hamid extended invitation to President Truong Tan Sang to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
The President is scheduled to meet the General Secretary of the Vietnam Communist Party, the Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly and the Vietnam Prime Minister later in the afternoon.
