DHAKA, Dec. 6 (nsnewswire) — Condolence Letter addressed to His Excellency Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa from Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP and Leader of the Opposition in Bangladesh Parliament on the passing away of Madiba Nelson Rolihlala Dalibhunga Mendela.

06 December, 2013

Excellency,

It is with the deepest sense of shock and sadness that we have learnt of the passing away of Madiba Nelson Rolihlala Dalibhunga Mandela. I, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP, express to the government and the people of South Africa and the family of President Mandela our heartfelt condolences and sorrow.

In life, Nelson Mandela embodied immeasurable courage and conviction in his pursuit of human dignity and equality among man of all colour, faith and creed. He shall forever remain a source of inspiration for all who believe in these universal values. In his death the world has lost a great statesman, an Icon who chose reconciliation over revenge and a global symbol of triumph over adversity.

I have had the privilege and pleasure of meeting President Nelson Mandela when he visited Bangladesh as President of South Africa. I shall long cherish the memory of that occasion.

At this moment of their grief, we pray to the Almighty that He grants his family and the people of South Africa the strength and fortitude required to bear this irreparable loss. We also pray that Madiba Nelson Mandela finds his rightful place among God’s chosen ones.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest considerations.” Source: BNP Press Release
