China warns U.S. against judicial interference

BEIJING, Dec. 26  (NsNewsWire) — China on Thursday rebuffed the U.S. demands to release Liu Xiaobo and warned the country not to infringe upon its judicial sovereignty and independence.

“We advise the U.S. to reflect on and correct its own violations of human rights, instead of interfering in other countries’ domestic affairs and judicial sovereignty and independence in the name of human rights,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.

Hua was commenting on U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s Wednesday press statement that voiced concern over China’s human rights.

Hua added that China was governed by rule of law, and its judicial authorities tried cases in accordance with the country’s laws, reports Xinhua.
