Chinese FM due today

DHAKA, Dec. 27 (NsNewsWire) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is all set to arrive here on Saturday on a three-day official visit.

Wang Yi, who is visiting  Dhaka at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali, is due to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6.40 p.m. local time on Saturday.

Wang Yi is expected to call on President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other senior ministers of the government.

He is expected to hold bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali on Sunday.

The two ministers will also discuss the programs to be jointly organized to celebrate the 40th anniversary of establishment of Dhaka-Beijing diplomatic relations in 2015 in a befitting manner.

Diplomatic sources said the visit is mainly aimed at reviewing the progress on some memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and Letters of Exchange inked between the two countries during the official visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to China in June this year.

Two MOUs signed between the two countries during Sheikh Hasina’s visit were on cooperation in the establishment of Chinese economic and industrial zone in Bangladesh and the construction of a multi-lane road tunnel under the river Karnaphuli.

The Chinese foreign minister will leave Dhaka on Monday afternoon
