COMOYO TO MAKE INSTANT MESSAGING EASIER AND MORE FUN FOR BANGLADESHI USERS

comyoDHAKA, Sept. 21 (NsNewsWire) — Telenor Digital has announced launch of its Instant Messaging (IM) app Comoyo on September 20, 2015 at a Press Conference held at a local hotel.

The IM app will serve the Bangladeshi customers with tailored features including Bangla stickers targeting the Bangladeshi youth culture.

The internet has opened up a vast array of communication channels. It started out with simple text-based emails and has since evolved into a plethora of communication platforms that allows expression in the most creative of ways.

Bangladeshi youngsters have already adopted different communication tools in their day-to-day lives–. but many users still feel there is something missing. The other messaging apps are mostly developed in the West and have English interfaces, which mean a large segment of the Bangla-speaking youth is deprived of the language familiarity they seek in a messenger app.

Enter Comoyo. The first messenger app made specifically with Bangladeshi youth in mind, Comoyo calls itself the “Khati Bangali Messenger” (Pure Bengali Messenger). The app lives up to its name in every way possible, from design right down to execution. But the best part about Comoyo is not its interface, its group and voice messaging features, or its quirky Bangla vernacular. It is the growing range of culturally-relevant and visually-engaging stickers that allows users to express themselves in the most Bengali way possible.

The stickers come in different sets tailored to fit the personalities and day-to-day routines of Bangladeshi youth. New stickers are available for free every month, and all stickers tap into rich and colourful Bangladeshi colloquialisms, local proverbs and sayings, uniquely Bangla pick-ups and put-downs, and all those tongue-in-cheek phrases that just can’t be said in any other language!

“Compared to the large number of apps available on the Internet, there are very few tailor-made specifically for Bangladeshi users. Comoyo is one of the results of our tireless endeavors to make Internet fun and productive for the Bangladeshi users,” Frode E. Vestnes, Vice President at Telenor Digital, was quoted as saying in a statement received here on Monday.

“Grameenphone being a forerunner when it comes to supporting innovative digital products, would like to bring this service to its customers totally free of charge. Our customers can use this service without incurring any internet cost. We are excited to be the associated with Comoyo to drive our “Internet for All” promise where we look to facilitate and make internet usage easy and accessible for everyone.” said Mohammad Muntasir Hossain, General Manager, Digital & Devise, at Grameenphone.

In essence, Comoyo is the perfect app for regular Bangladeshis to express themselves without any inhibitions in the digital age. Comoyo has all the features of a fully-functional IM app, allowing users to send texts, sounds, voice messages, videos, group chats and more. Anyone regardless of telco subscription can download it for free from Google Play or App store.
