DPRK condemns secret delivery of extra THAAD launchers in S. Korea

PYONGYANG, June 10 (Xinhua) — The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday condemned the secret delivery of four extra launchers of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system in South Korea last month.

A spokesman of the Pan-Korean Emergency Measure Committee for Opposing Nuclear War Drills against DPRK said the South Korean military “was disclosed to have hushed up the additional introduction of four launchers of THAAD, except for the already deployed two launchers.”

“This was aimed to pacify the angry South Korean public remaining strongly averse to the deployment of THAAD, evade rebukes of neighboring countries, and curry favor with the U.S. administration to prolong their remaining days,” said the spokesman.

“It is another heavy crime and unpardonable pro-U.S. act of treachery,” he added.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in late last month ordered a thorough investigation into the unauthorized delivery of the four extra THAAD mobile launchers of the U.S. missile shield to the country.
