Flagging off Ceremony of 100 Member Bangladesh Youth Delegation

DHAKA,  Dec. 4 (NsNewsWire) — The High Commission of India organized a flagging off ceremony of the 100 member Bangladesh Youth Delegation to India at Dhaka on Dec 2, 2016. The delegation will embark on an 8 day visit (Dec 4 – 11) to different cities in India such as New Delhi, Agra, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, where they will see prominent cultural and historical sites, business centres, apart from holding interactions with the youth of India in educational, business, IT and technological institutions. The delegation has left this morning for New Delhi from Dhaka.

H.E. Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh; Chief Guest H.E. Dr. Biren Sikder, Hon’ble State Minister for Youth and Sports; Special Guest H.E. Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and President of the Bangladesh Scout addressed the members of the delegation. Mr. Mustafizur Rahman and Mr. Mehedi Hasan Miraz, celebrated cricketers of Bangladesh cricket team and Ms. Jannatul Ferdoush Peya, well known model of Bangladesh, were the Special invitees for the flagging off event. Representatives of partner institutions such as Bangladesh Cricket Board, State Bank of India and Vice Chancellors of various Universities were also present.

This year marks the fifth year of the Bangladesh Youth Delegations’ visit to India. The first such Bangladesh Youth Delegation had visited India in 2012, and this programme has been continuing every year since then.

Members of the 2016 delegation include 50 young Bangladeshi women and 50 young Bangladeshi men, drawn from different regions of the country, diverse backgrounds and educational institutions of Bangladesh. They comprise of doctors, artists, sportspersons, journalists, engineers, models, radio jockeys, humanities and science students, social workers, among others.

On this occasion, the High Commission of India also launched a Bangla version of its website, www.hcidhaka.gov.in.
