Huawei, NYP to set up first ICT academy in Singapore

DHAKA, March 7 (NsNewsWire) — Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), has recently agreed to set up the first ICT Academy in Singapore to support ICT skills development by joint research, education and training programmes. The academy will help ICT students gain hands-on experience along with industry certification in networking technologies.
Huawei ICT Academy, also known as Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA), is a partnership project between Huawei and renowned universities from all around the world. Through this project, collaborating universities provide the students with Huawei ICT technologies and courses, certifications and nurture young talents to grow practical skills for the ICT industry. Any university from any country can become a part of Huawei ICT academy.
Mr Zhou Danjin, President of Southern Pacific Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, said: “Huawei has a strong focus on helping the next generation develop the skills needed to drive innovations in technology. Huawei’s HAINA programme is part of our wider commitment to STEM education as well as research and development. We are confident that our partnership with Nanyang Polytechnic will give students the opportunity to learn new and relevant industry skills, enabling them to fulfil their ambitions in science and technology and contribute to the digital economy.”
According to Huawei, Huawei is currently cooperating with over 350 universities to open Huawei ICT academies around the world. Last year, the Academy trained over 12,500 students globally. Among them, 4000 students received certifications for their skills. Under the HAINA programme, Huawei also runs a global annual ‘Skills Competition’ for students, giving local country winners the opportunity to visit China for the finals and compete with students from across the globe. If universities of rapidly developing countries like Bangladesh become part of this program, students can have the opportunity to learn new and relevant industry skills to fulfill their ambitions with science and technology.
