Malaysia beat Bangladesh to win Bangabandhu Gold Cup

DHAKA, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) — Malaysia beat Bangladesh, 3-2, in the final of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament 2015 here on Sunday night.
The hosts equalised twice in the second half but a goal by Malaysian midfielder Mohammad Faizad during the extra time broke the hearts of millions of Bangladeshis at the Bangabandhu National Statium in Dhaka on Sunday.
Bangladesh’s Emily scored the first goal in the 49th minute from a corner. The hosts equalized the score board with the second goal from Yasin Khan’s header in the 54th minute.
Earlier  in the first half of the match Malaysian Captain Nazirul scored the first goal from a free kick in the 31st minute. Later in the 40th minute Forward Kumaahran scored the second goal from a counter attack.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the champion and runners up trophies to the Malaysian and Bangladesh teams respectively.
She also distributed personal medals among the players, coaches and other staff of both the teams as well as referees and linesmen.
Malaysia had beaten Singapore and Bangladesh prevailed over Thailand in the semifinals of the six-nation Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament.
   The third edition of Bangabandhu Gold Cup international football tournament started on Jan. 29 with six participating nations — Bahrain, hosts Bangladesh, Malaysia,  Sri Lanka, Singapore and Thailand.  Enditem
