Mominul becomes first Bangladesh batsman to score centuries in both innings

DHAKA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) — Star cricketer Mominul Haque scored his second century for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in Chittagong on Sunday to become the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a hundred in each innings of a match.
He departed for 105 runs Sunday.
Haque was also the star of Bangladesh’s first innings, scoring 176 runs. With the two tons, Haque has broken the record for the most runs scored by a Bangladeshi batsman in a Test match. The diminutive left-hander became the fastest to reach 2000 Test runs for Bangladesh during his 176-run knock in the first innings.
However, a massive 106-run fourth-wicket partnership between Mominul Haque and Liton Das took the Bangladesh to 187 for three in the first session on Day 5 of the first Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
The partnership took Bangladesh past Sri Lanka’s first innings lead with seven wickets in hand. Bangladesh reached 288 runs in the 89th over on the final day of the match.
Till filing of the report at about 2:41 p.m. (local time), Bangladesh managed to take lead by 88 runs with 5 wickets remaining.
Sri Lanka declared their 1st innings in the third over into the final session with a lead of 200 runs in response to Bangladesh’s first innings total of 513.  Enditem
