New beer mug for 182th Munich Oktoberfest presented to public

MUNICH, Aug. 19 (NsNewsWire) — The newly-designed beer mug for the 182th Munich Oktoberfest, the world’s largest beer festival, was presented to the public by the official organizer here on Tuesday.

The colorful motif, made up of the jumbled letters of “Oktoberfest”, is printed on the front of the mug. On top of those letters sloshes white froth, reports Xinhua.

The mug, which can hold one liter of beer, will appear in a limited edition, one month before the official kickoff of the event which starts on Sept. 19 this year.

According to the organizer, the new beer mug was designed by 22-year-old Moritz Breitenhuber who is studying at a design academy in Munich.

Every year, the organizer collects new designs for Oktoberfest by holding a contest. As this year’s winner, Breitenhuber was awarded 8,000 euros (8,800 U.S. dollars).

Oktoberfest attracted about 6.3 million visitors last year who drunk 6.5 million liters of beer. This year’s Oktoberfest runs from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4. Enditem
