One dead, doznes injured in hartal violence

DHAKA, Dec. 29 (NsNewsWire) — A female school teacher was dead and dozens of others including cops injured Monday in stray incidents of violence during the nationwide dawn-to-dusk general strike enforced by Bangladesh’s main opposition alliance.
During the early hours of the hartal, Shamsunnahar, 37, succumbed to her injuries when an alleged picket hurled brick chips at a covered van carrying her in Noakhali town.
BNP and its allies have called the countrywide dawn-to-dusk strike for Monday protesting restrictions on its rally in Gazipur.
The hartal crippled the normal life and business transactions to large extent with many main markets and educational institutions closed.
