শিশুদের অংশগ্রহণে অস্ট্রেলিয়ার রাজধানী ক্যানবেরায় গতকাল জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের কনিষ্ঠ পুত্র শেখ রাসেলের ৫৯তম জন্মদিন এবং শেখ রাসেল দিবস উদযাপিত হয় । দূতালয় প্রধান ও কাউন্সেলর তাহলীল দেলাওয়ার মুনের উপস্থাপনায় এ অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তৃতা করেন হাইকমিশনের চার্জ দ্য অ্যাফেয়ার্স ড. দেওয়ান শাহরিয়ার ফিরোজ এবং অস্ট্রেলিয়া প্রবাসী তুষার রায়। বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশন আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে ড. শাহরিয়ার ফিরোজ বলেন, অসীম সম্ভাবনাময় শিশু ছিলেন শেখ রাসেল। যারা শিশু রাসেলকে হত্যা করেছিল তাদের প্রতি তিনি ধিক্কার জানান। চার্জ দ্য অ্যাফেয়ার্স উলেøখ করেন, বিখ্যাত দার্শনিক রাসেলের নামানুসারে বঙ্গবন্ধু তাঁর ছোট ছেলের নাম রেখেছিলেন শেখ রাসেল এবং বেঁচে থাকলে তিনি দেশ ও জাতির কল্যাণে রাখতে পারতেন অসাধারণ অবদান। শিশুরা যেন সৎ, দেশপ্রেমিক ও সুনাগরিক হিসেবে গড়ে উঠতে পারে সেজন্য সব ধরনের সহিংসতামুক্ত সমাজ গঠনে সকলকে এগিয়ে আসার আহবান জানান ড. ফিরোজ। অস্ট্রেলিয়া প্রবাসী তুষার রায় শিশু রাসেলের অসাধারণ গুণাবলীর ওপর আলোকপাত করেন। তিনি বলেন, শেখ রাসেল বেঁচে থাকলে হতে পারতেন অবিসংবাদিত এক নেতা। অনুষ্ঠানে শিশুদের নিয়ে কেক কাটেন হাইকমিশনের চার্জ দ্য অ্যাফেয়ার্স ড. ফিরোজ। এসময় শেখ রাসেলের জন্মদিন উপলক্ষ্যে চলচ্চিত্র ও প্রকাশনা অধিদপ্তর নির্মিত প্রামাণ্য চিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয়। দিবসটি উপলক্ষ্যে রাষ্ট্রপতি প্রদত্ত বাণী পাঠ করেন কাউন্সেলর মো: সাইফুল্লাহ এবং প্রধানমন্ত্রী প্রদত্তবাণী পাঠ করেন কাউন্সেলর নাঈম রুবাইয়্যাত। শেখ রাসেলের ওপর কবিতা আবৃত্তি করেন কাউন্সেলর সালাহউদ্দিন। এসময় বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান ও তাঁর পরিবারের শহিদ সদস্যদের আত্মার মাগফিরাত কামনা করে দোয়া ও মোনাজাত করা হয়। এছাড়া বঙ্গবন্ধু পরিবারের সকল শহিদের আত্মার শান্তি কামনা করে নিজ নিজ ধর্মমত ও প্রথা মোতাবেক মৌন প্রার্থনা করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে হাইকমিশনের কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীবৃন্দ, তাদের পরিবারের শিশু সদস্যরা এবং প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিরা অংশগ্রহণ করেন. ক্যানবেরা, ১৯ অক্টোবর, ২০২২: প্রেস বিজ্ঞপ্তি
