Prince Turki bin Abdullah Receives Foreign Minister of Bangladesh

DHAKA, April 26 (NsNewsWire) — His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, ChiefExecutive Officer of King Abdullah International Foundation for Humanitarian Activities, received yesterday at Foundation’s headquarters Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, on the sidelines of his visit to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting attended by Deputy CEO of King Abdullah Foundation, Abdullatif bin Ali Al-Saif, and Ambassador of People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Kingdom, Ghulam Moshe, was held to consider support and bilateral cooperation means, particularly in the humanitarian and economic fields, and to also enhance coordination on a number of joint ventures, including Fail Khair project, which is overseen by King Abdullah Foundation in cooperation with Islamic Development Bank in Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister of Bangladesh broached, during his visit, the projects executed in Bangladesh at a number of levels, which are a number of benevolence Waqf projects which were launched in 2007 A.D. as a generous grant from H.E the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Allah mercy be upon him, to distress relief, support poor families and teach students in the wake of “Cyclone Sidr”, which hit the south coast of Bangladesh.

The project consists of two parts. First part seeks to establish shelters for refugees affected by hurricanes and floods (+170 units) to house (+2,000 persons), as well as to establish schools replacing the affected schools to various school grades with a capacity of more than (240 students) per school.

Second part aims at rehabilitation of people affected by the hurricane to help them to resume their normal life and compensate for what they have been lost by such disaster, in addition to assist farmers, small entrepreneurs and low-income people to rebuild their productive capital in cooperation with charities already working on the ground in the affected areas.

King Abdullah Foundation oversaw and supervised the implementation of the project in cooperation with Islamic Development Bank, along with the participation of 4 voluntary organizations in Bangladesh, which are Waqf Islamic Development Bank Foundation in Bangladesh, Muslim Aid, VoluntaryOrganization for Social Development and BRAC in Bangladesh. The continuity of establishing future humanitarian projects in Bangladesh were also discussed during this visit.
