Shohag adds SCANIA buses to its fleet

DHAKA, Dec. 28 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh’s leading transport operstor has added SCANNIA  buses to its big-bus fleet.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader launched the luxurious vehicles as the chief guest at a ceremony held at the Carnival Hall of Bangabandhu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Dhaka.

“To allow ply quality vehicles, it is needed to improved the conditions of roads and highways,” he said adding, “Shohag Group has been contributing a lot by introducing world-class vehicles in the country and this is adding new dimensions to the public transport system.”

He said the government is constructing better roads and highways so that high-standard vehicles can ply to bring comfort to the passengers.Aslamul Haque, lawmaker from Dhaka-14 and Johan Frisell, Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh were present at the ceremony as the special guests.

Md. Faruk Talukdar Sohel, Managing Director of Innovative Motors & Shohagh Group chaired the inaugural session while Directors, Mikhail Kiander, Sales Director of Scania Commercial Vehicle were present.

Obaidul Quader said, a total of 300,000 small vehicles are plying in the coty while only 80,000 have licenses, which are creating traffic jam in the capital.

Time has arrived to take tough actions against these illegal vehicles, he added.

Scania busses and trucks of capacity 310-410 horsepower being introduced in Bangladesh are less fuel-consuming and environment-friendly, Md. Faruk Talukdar Sohel mentioned.
