Statement from the EU Delegation to Bangladesh on assassination of Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee

DHAKA,April 24 (NsNewsWire) — The following is the full and unedited text of a statement from the EU Delegation to Bangladesh  on assassination of Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee:

“EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Pierre Mayaudon, expresses his deep emotion and firm condemnation of the brutal killing of AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee, a Professor of the English Department of Rajshahi University on 23 April.

 

The initial findings indicate that the crime was conducted by fanatics. Should it be confirmed, this would be yet another terror attack in Bangladesh in a short period of time.Killings of academicians and intellectuals are irreparable losses for any society as a whole. It is comforting that students quickly expressed their rejection of this sickening aggression.

 

Ambassador Mayaudon conveys his condolences to the family of Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee. He hopes thatthorough investigation will bring the instigators and perpetrators of this crime to justice.”
