U.S. secretary of state unhurt in minor road accident in India

NEW DELHI, Jan. 13  (NsNewsWire) — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was unhurt Monday afternoon after his motorcade was involved in road accident in the western Indian state of Gujarat, while on the way to the airport to fly to Pakistan, said Indian police.

Gujarat Police officials said two cars in Kerry’s motorcade were involved in the accident as he left the Mahatma Mandir convention center after attending the seventh Vibrant Gujarat economic summit, reports Xinhua.

“It was a minor accident. The Secretary of State did not get out of his car and the motorcade continued its journey,” a police official told the media.

There was minor damage to Kerry’s car. Another car which hit Kerry’s car from behind was pulled out of the motorcade due to damage, said police.

Kerry headed for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel airport in Ahmedabad, state capital of Gujarat, where he boarded his aircraft to fly to Islamabad.
