Yunus Center signs MoU with Dr BR Ambedkar University, Andhra Pradesh

DHAKA, Jan. 3 (NsNewsWire) — Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. BR Ambedkar University (BRAU), located in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh on 27 December, 2017

The MoU was signed during the centenary conference of the Indian Economic Association at Acharya Nagarjuna University. Vice Chancellor of BRAU signed the MoU with Founder of Yunus Social Business Center (YSBC) in the presence of Minister of Human Resources Development in Andhra Pradesh in India, Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, in the presence of all Vice-Chancellors of sixteen state-run universities of Andhra Pradesh. The minister suggested that all the sixteen universities should gradually establish YSBCs.

After the YSBC of SSM College of Engineering (SSMCE), Tamil Nadu, and YSBC, Chandigarh University, Punjab, BRAU is the third university in India. In all, 44 universities of different countries have signed the MoU for the establishment of YSBC around the world.

BRAU signed the MoU with the YSBC with an aim to achieve zero poverty and sustainable economic growth in rural areas through the university, explained the BRAU Vice-Chancellor to Indian press media. “We will fix a schedule with the Yunus Social Business Center (YSBC) soon and implement programs in our students in a phased manner in rural areas,” BRAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Koona Ramji explained.
