Bangladesh Development Forum 2018 launched in Dhaka

DHAKA, Jan. 18 (NsNewsWire) — The 3rd edition of Bangladesh Development Forum 2018 began in capital Dhaka on Wednesday under the theme “Partnership for development.”, reports Xinhua
Organizers say this time the BDF will mainly focus on the review of Bangladesh’s 7th Five Year Plan alongside sharing the country’s challenges and way forward on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the development partners.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the flagship event of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) of the government.
Some 700 delegates representing Bangladesh government and various development partners are attending the BDF, a platform to discuss the country’s development process, which is being held after the first one in 2009 and the 2nd in 2015.
According to a government concept paper prepared for the upcoming meeting, Bangladesh would require 2,000 to 3,000 billion U.S. dollars by 2030 to meet the SDGs.
The gathering is expected to discuss how the funds will be mobilized and the challenges associated with it.
ERD Secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam had earlier told journalists that the main objectives of the BDF 2018 is to review the ongoing 7th Five Year Plan (7FYP) and also to share with the development partners the challenges and way forward towards attaining the targets of the SDGs.  Enditem
