Peace in the Middle East still a distant dream in new year

CAIRO, Dec. 20 (NsNewsWire) — For far too long, peace has been so elusive in the Middle East, where turbulence and bloodshed abound. The passing year was no exception, if not worse.

Rarely before has the region faced so many crises on so many fronts all at the same time, and rarely before has its troubles been so entangled with the rest of the world, reports Xinhua.

As efforts by world powers to deal with some of the region’s most inextricable ills, like the rampant spread of terror threats and surging exodus of refugees, drag on into the new year, chances for real peace seem as slim as ever.
