Robi Digital Services signs MoU with UNDP UPPRP Project

DHAKA, Dec. 1 (Robi Press Release) — Robi Axiata Limited has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a UNDP (United Nations Development Program) project.
UNDP’s Urban Partnerships for Poverty Reduction Project (UPPRP) is the biggest of its kind in the world focused on reducing poverty by mobilizing urban poor communities to form representative and inclusive groups that identify, prioritize and address the settlement, economic and social problems they face every day.
The MOU was signed on Nov. 28 at the UPPRP office.
Robi Axiata Limited is providing 2700 SIMs free-of-cost to UPPRP grant beneficiaries on a pilot basis at Tangail & Savar City Corporations. Under this arrangement all UPPRP grants will be transferred through DBBL Mobile Banking to beneficiaries Robi m-wallet. Thereon the beneficiary may withdraw funds at UNDP Community Resource Center (CRC) which be converted to Robi Cash Points.
Speaking on this occasion Country Head of Robi Digital Services, Mr. Rozano Marius Planta said, “Robi Digital Services is delighted to collaborate with LGRD and UNDP for UPPRP poverty alleviation project. Robi Digital Services support the Ministry of LGRD and UNDP through innovative solutions and quality service for the recipients of the project.”

Mr. Md. Abdur Rashid Khan of LGRD added, “We are pleased to partner with Robi Digital Services for our poverty alleviation project, UPPRP. We are hopeful of converting our CRCs into sustainable social businesses with the help of Robi.”

These Robi Cash Points will also have Easyload facility and avail more M-money services like International Remittance and Utility Bill Payments in the future.

Md. Abdur Rashid Khan, National Project Director; Md.Abdul Hakim, Deputy Project Director, UNDP UPPRP Project; and Md. Nurul Islam, Deputy Project Director UNDP UPPRP Project, were present from UNDP.
